ACTIVE SHOOTER EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS LEAVES POLICE AND COMMUNITY IN SHOCK
At approximately 4:50 p.m. on Friday, a barrage of gunfire erupted outside the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters. Adjacent to Emory University’s Atlanta campus. Everyone was running for their lives.
Moreover the incident triggered immediate lockdowns of both institutions an alert urging “RUN, HIDE, FIGHT” was dispatched swiftly. The suspect, later located on the second floor of a CVS at Emory Point, was confirmed dead at the scene. It remains uncertain if his death was self-inflicted or the result of law enforcement gunfire. No civilians were harmed.

HEROIC OFFICER FALLS IN THE LINE OF DUTY
DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose, 33, responded bravely to the crisis. He sustained critical injuries and tragically succumbed at a hospital. Officer Rose leaves behind a pregnant wife and two young children. His fierce dedication under pressure will stand as a testament to service, loss, and sacrifice.
COMMUNITY UNINJURED BUT SHAKEN TO THE CORE
Although no physical injuries occurred among civilians, the psychological impact was profound. Ninety-two children at a CDC daycare were rushed to safety, and four individuals sought medical care for stress and anxiety. Windows of at least four CDC buildings were shattered, a chilling visual of violence spilling into public health territory.
MULTI-AGENCY RESPONSE AND LEADERS PRAISE FIRST RESPONDERS
The swift coordination among local, state, and federal responders was commendable. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation leads the investigation, with support from the FBI and Atlanta Police. Governor Brian Kemp, Mayor Andre Dickens, and CDC Director Susan Monarez expressed gratitude for acts of valor under fire.
